Rather than going door to door persuading 0.7% of my constituents to sign a distorted and partial petition, Reading Labour Party and its hapless parliamentary candidate would be better off following my example and spending its time improving education in east Reading. Let’s not forget there would be no Reading UTC nor new Maiden Erlegh if I had not acted.
We found out this week Labour-run Reading finished in the bottom three nationally of English and maths for 11 year olds and Ofsted found that its children’s centres were ‘unsatisfactory’. Labour should be dealing with its poor schools performance and tackling the big education challenges, as local people can make any views known about any potential site selected via the planning system.
