The Tampon Tax Fund aims to support projects that improve the lives of disadvantaged women and girls across the UK. The latest round identified 70 high-quality projects to put forward for £12 million of funding and was particularly interested in bids from organisations addressing violence against women and girls.
All applications into the fund were assessed against three criteria: evidence for the need of the project; the organisation’s ability to deliver; and the sustainability and impact of the project.
Life Charity submitted a project proposal to support vulnerable women in west London, requesting £250,000. Life Charity’s bid described a project that would help vulnerable, homeless or at risk women (for example, those escaping abuse or trafficking) who are pregnant and have nowhere to turn.
The Department will agree the specifics of the project to ensure that taxpayers' money is put to the best use. As with all organisations that successfully applied to the fund, it will only make grants where it is certain that projects align with the aims of the fund.
